Title: Annie Fleming Smith Scholar
Supervisor: Meghan Budinger, Curator
As an education intern at George Washington’s Boyhood Home, I participated in leading school tours and programs, interacting with students, parents, and teachers. I also developed two programs for Girl Scout troops, working in coordination with George Washington Foundation staff and local girl scout council leaders. Both programs are compatible with SOLs, meaning they can easily be adapted for regular school groups. Implementation of the programs is projected to begin Spring 2014.
Working primarily with the Curatorial department at Kenmore, I conducted an extensive archival project cataloging and inventorying the research papers of local historian Paula Felder. I also gained significant collections management and object handling experience through assisting with a professional collections appraisal and several special events at the house which required the particular staging of furniture, ceramics, and glassware.
